In Season 3 of Apex Legends Developer Respawn Entertainment added World’s Edge, a new level, and a new character named Crypto. The map in World’s Edge packs in a lot more floorspace with taller buildings and sweeping views. But did these changes have any impact on the current Apex Legends Tier List?

Crypto is an obvious choice for the level, and has gained popularity among the fanbase. Neither have managed to cause much of a stir in the meta, however.
Apex Legends Tier List for Season 3
I looked around to see what other voices in the Apex Legends community had to say. Dot Esports still has Wraith and Pathfinder in their S Tier, and Pathfinder picked up two S Tier votes on Two Average Gamers. I did find an S Tier vote for Crypto on GAMERANT, but that seems to be a lone voice in the wilderness so far.
Apex Legends has a hot tournament scene, which is only getting better next year with EA launching an official league. I’m surprised it took EA this long to set up an official league like Activision Blizzard has for Overwatch and Epic has for Fortnite. The Apex Legends Global Series, hosted by EA, will have teams competing for $3 million is prizes. Click here for the official schedule.

Of course, most of the competitive action in Apex legends will still come from the scrims. Currently the scrims are organized over Discord servers, but with all of the attention that the new season and the new official league are bringing to the game, I wouldn’t be surprised if more and better options for competitive Apex Legends pop up.
So who are the top-tier Legends for Season 3? From Reddit to ESTNN, to PC Gamer it seems that there’s pretty much universal consensus that any serious scrim team is going to include some variation of the same few characters. The Apex Legends Tier List shares teams of Wraith, Wattson, and Gibraltar or teams of Wraith, Wattson, and Pathfinder as favorites that can dominate the league.
1. Wraith – S Tier

Interdimensional Skirmisher
- Tactical Ability: Into the Void
- Passive Ability: Voices from the Void
- Ultimate Ability: Dimensional Rift
A minor nerf has not put a single dent into Wraith’s continued popularity. She’s still hard to hit and she’s still very, very deadly. Wraith’s Dimensional Rift ability can turn the tide of battle, and is particularly useful in the wide-open spaces of World’s Edge.
The nerfing isn’t a good sign for Wraith’s long-term use in the highest levels of competition, but expect to see a lot of her in the inaugural season of Apex Legend’s official competitive league.
2. Pathfinder – S Tier

Forward Scout
- Tactical Ability: Grappling Hook
- Passive Ability: Insider Knowledge
- Ultimate Ability: Zipline Gun
Mobility has always been a key part of Apex Legends, and ziplining across high points of elevation in World’s Edge is a very useful skill for Pathfinder. Grappling Hook and Zipline Gun are great in World’s Edge, and Insider Knowledge is useful on any map for finding the way to the next ring.
The uber-popular, lovable robot is sure to make a strong appearance in the first season of the official league and maintains is S-rank in the Apex Legends Tier List.
3. Wattson – A Tier

Static Defender
- Tactical Ability: Perimeter Security
- Passive Ability: Spark of Genius
- Ultimate Ability: Interception Pylon
Watts is great for Apex Legends Season 3 mainly because of her ability to construct defensive points on the fly, giving her team the mobility that they need in a level as big as World’s Edge.
Perimeter Security also gives Watts the ability to passively protect a weak spot in her teams’ defense or to channel the enemy into a more advantageous route. There’s nothing better than a well-timed Interception Pylon spoiling the enemy’s Ultimate Abilities.
4. Gibraltar – A Tier

Shielded Fortress
- Tactical Ability: Dome of Protection
- Passive Ability: Gun Shield
- Ultimate Ability: Defensive Bombardment
Gibraltar is the third member of competitive Apex Legends most popular trio, along with Wraith and Wattson. Alternate Gibraltar’s Tactical Ability Dome of Protection with Wattson’s Ultimate Ability Interception Pylon to keep up a steady stream of shields.
Finish off the enemy with Gibraltar’s powerful Defensive Bombardment. Nerfing may change things, but for now Gibraltar is a definite for competitive play in Season 3.
Special Mention: Crypto

Surveillance Expert
- Tactical Ability: Surveillance Drone
- Passive Ability: Neurolink
- Ultimate Ability: Drone EMP
With EA’s continued focus on pushing Apex Legends into the battle arena competition spotlight, I expect that they’ll continue making changes to the game that will eventually force players to adopt a new meta strategy.
The Overwatch League has already experimented with forced character choice in an effort to persuade their players out of the somewhat boring to watch GOATS meta, so the precedent has been set.
Conclusion:
Nobody wants to design new characters for a game and then not have anybody play them. Sure, Crypto is a frequent choice for casual play, but eventually it’s in the best interest of the company to cycle fresh characters into the meta. This is the esports world: if it’s boring to watch the fans have a million other games to spend their time and money on.
These are the top ranked legends in the Apex Legends Tier List. We’ll see if there are any changes made to the meta in the future. For more info please check out the Apex Legends Global Series official site.
